Creep of the Week - June 29, 1996
Two Unidentified Terrorists in Saudi Arabia
I've been working feverishly all week to figure out what happened here and determine
why the picture above looks so familiar. Except for the names of the perpetrators, I think
I've got it all:
- Two guys drove a truck containing a 5,000 pound bomb up next to a US Military
complex in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. After they escaped in a white car, the bomb exploded,
killing 19 and injuring 270 American men and women who were living there. The two
terrorists were evidently protesting
- The beheading of four Muslim militants who last November set off a car bomb near
another military building in Saudi Arabia, killing seven people, five of them Americans.
These four extremists were pissed off at
- Their own Saudi Arabian government which they described as "hypocritical, corrupt
and immoral," a state of affairs they blamed on the influence of foreign infidels like
- The United States, which came to be in Saudi Arabia as a result of the 1991 Gulf War
which was fought against
- Iraq, which has enough crackpots to make Saudi Arabia look like
Disneyland which just reinforces the fact that the reason we have any interest at all in
whether these madmen kill
each other is because the only thing of note this region of the world has besides crazy
killers is
- Oil, which the US needs to keep its economy going and also provides the fuel for
- Racially motivated church burnings, which like every other bad thing in this country
is blamed on
- Hillary Rodham Clinton, who just the other day was talking to
- Eleanor Roosevelt, who was aghast that
- OJ Simpson is now hosting anti-wife-beating seminars and feeling mighty lucky that
he's not
- Michael Irvin, who was the target of a killing-for-hire plot hatched by a Dallas
policeman, which is weird enough to give cause to a paranoid pair of wackos like
- Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols to blow up a building in Oklahoma City
with a truck bomb, killing
168 people and injuring hundreds more because they thought
their government was - altogether now - "hypocritical, corrupt and immoral."
Violence, hatred, treachery, stupidity and plain, simple insanity have the same results
regardless of where they occur, who they're directed at, or the color of the skin on
the head that generates them - People get killed or get injured or lose their loved ones
or have their lives twisted so far around that nothing ever looks right again. It's all
connected and incestuous somehow, and it's getting pretty ugly out there.
